When it comes to luxury dog accessories, the materials used matter just as much as the design itself. Quality fabrics and natural materials not only change how a product looks and feels but also how it performs over time.
At LISH London, many collections are created using heritage materials chosen for their durability, craftsmanship and timeless character. From Harris Tweed® handwoven in Scotland to vegetable-tanned Italian leather and solid brass fittings, each material reflects a more intentional approach to luxury petwear.
What Makes Harris Tweed So Special?
Harris Tweed® is one of the most recognised heritage textiles in the world and remains deeply connected to British craftsmanship and tradition.
By law, genuine Harris Tweed® must be handwoven by crofters in their homes in the Scottish Outer Hebrides using 100% pure virgin wool dyed and spun locally. Since the fabric is 100% wool, it is able to stay odour-free even through consistent wear. Additionally, it is the only fabric in the world protected by its own Act of Parliament.
Originally created to withstand the harsh weather conditions of the Scottish islands, Harris Tweed® is naturally durable, breathable and insulating, making it particularly well suited to dog accessories designed for everyday use. Its textured finish, warmth and durability have helped establish it as a fabric closely associated with classic British style for generations.
The Beauty of Vegetable-Tanned Tuscan Leather
Alongside heritage wool fabrics, leather quality plays an equally important role in luxury petwear design.
All LISH London pieces feature Italian vegetable-tanned leather produced using traditional Tuscan tanning techniques. Unlike heavily processed chrome-treated leathers, vegetable tanning uses natural tannins extracted from plants and bark to create a softer and more natural finish.
Over time, vegetable-tanned leather gradually softens and adapts with use while maintaining its strength and structure. This creates collars and leads that not only age beautifully but also become more comfortable to use and wear over time.

Why Solid Brass Hardware Matters
Hardware is often one of the most overlooked parts of a dog collar or dog lead, yet it plays an important role in both durability and appearance.
LISH London uses solid brass fittings selected for their strength, longevity and resistance to rust. Traditionally used within saddlery and equestrian craftsmanship, solid brass develops a softer aged finish over time while remaining durable enough for long-term everyday use.
Combined with natural leather and heritage fabrics, brass fittings help create accessories designed to last for years.

Materials Designed to Last
As more consumers move away from mass-produced pet accessories, there has been growing interest in natural materials, traditional craftsmanship and products designed with longevity in mind.
At LISH London, materials are selected not only for their appearance but for their practicality, durability and connection to heritage craftsmanship. From Harris Tweed® handwoven in the Outer Hebrides to vegetable-tanned Tuscan leather and solid brass hardware, each material reflects a more thoughtful approach to luxury dog accessories and the safety and wellbeing of your dog.
What Our Customers Say
"I have been using leads and collars from Lish London Dogs for two years, and I am beyond impressed with the quality and durability of their products. From day one, the service and craftsmanship have been top-notch.
Last week, I experienced a terrifying incident that truly highlighted the exceptional quality of their products. While getting off the train, my French Bulldog fell into the gap. Thanks to the high-quality lead and collar, I was able to pull him back up by his neck without causing him any discomfort. Despite being two years old and showing signs of wear, both the lead and collar held up perfectly under the pressure, allowing me to safely rescue my 13kg dog.
I am incredibly grateful to Lish London Dogs for making such durable and reliable products. They genuinely saved my dog’s life. Moving forward, I always carry my dog on and off the train now to avoid any risks, but I know I can trust Lish London Dogs for their outstanding quality.
Thank you, Lish London Dogs, for your life-saving products!"
