WHAT MAKES YOUR DOG CLOTHING BETTER THAN THE REST?

Firstly all our designs are created with love and meticulous care by Lilly, our creative director. Lilly originally trained in fashion and textiles for humans, and for many years was a successful designer of knitwear and textiles for leading fashion houses.

Secondly we only use the finest fabrics money can buy. Lilly loves natural fibres, so your dog coat, lead or dog collar will be made from fabulous materials that are rarely used in petwear.

Nothing is mass-produced. Each garment is cut out by hand then pinned in the traditional way and painstakingly sewn together by a professional seamstress. Most of our dog coats and dog beds are made in our studio in London. Our leads and collars hand cut and then finished by traditional British belt-makers with strong, sturdy clasps and buckles. Our pure wool dog sweaters are hand-knitted to our own design by Nepalese craftswomen, who receive an above-average fair-trade wage for their work.

When you buy designer dogwear from LoveMyDog Ltd & LISH, you are buying a true piece of British craftsmanship, and a genuine exclusive.

WHAT DO YOU RECOMMEND AS A BASIC DOG’S WARDROBE?

Naturally, all dogs need a collar and lead, and it does look very smart if these match. It’s fun to change your dog’s collar and lead to suit the seasons. For Spring, pick a fresh stripe, then in Summer go for bright yellow leather, then in Winter, switch to a tweed or deep red Velvet – perfect for Christmas!

A dog coat is not just a fashion accessory. Small dogs easily start shivering as soon as a gust blows. Just like humans, youngsters and the elderly can feel the cold, especially if they are short-haired. We sell dog coats to match many of our leads and collars.

In Spring and Autumn when you never know when to expect a shower, it’s good to have a dog raincoat. Lighter in weight than a coat and fully waterproof, they stop your pet feeling wet, cold and miserable, for happy times outdoors whatever the weather.

Finally, every dog should have a dog sweater for lounging around the house, especially if you don’t leave the heating on during the day when you’re out. You can also use the sweater instead of a dog coat on milder days, and as our sweaters are made of finest pure wool, they’ll even keep your dog dry when it starts to drizzle.

WHAT IS HARRIS TWEED?

It is a special pure wool cloth that is hand dyed and hand woven by islanders living in the Outer Hebrides in Scotland. We love it because it is soft, warm and showerproof, and also encapsulates all our values of British craftsmanship and heritage. Creative Director Lilly has used Harris Tweed in three of our collections, including our signature ‘Hoxton Tartan’, which is a exclusive to LoveMyDog Ltd & LISH, and designed in close collaboration with the Harris Tweed authorities.
