PUPPY TRAINING POST LOCKDOWN

Nutrition & Behaviour expert Anna Webb highlights some top tips to improve your pups social skills.

As we acclimatise to a new normal, ‘Lockdown’ puppies are queuing around the block for limited spaces at puppy school due to social distancing restrictions and long waiting lists.

But as Lockdown eases there’s no excuse to not socialise your pup. Making up valuable time, providing you teach your pup important ground rules that can be adapted to different situations.

EASING YOUR POOCH OUT OF LOCKDOWN BY ANNA WEBB

As we come out of Lock-down its not loo roll, pasta or eggs that’s in short supply, but extraordinarily its puppies!

Through Lock-down the unprecedented demand for puppies has outstripped Britain’s supply, and inquiries to buy a dog are up 180% on this time last year!

Whether this sudden boom in ‘puppy love’ is a reaction to loneliness or to provide entertainment for the kids or simply to reduce boredom, many puppies have been bought without a thought about the future. One thing’s for sure a ‘dog is for life, not just for Lock-down”!

VE DAY 75 - AT HOME WITH RONNIE

RSM (Regimental Sergeant Major) Ronald Ernest Harrison was born in January 1923 in Richmond, London. He was married to June for over 69 years and has two sons, Tony and Simon.

I asked Ronnie where he was on VE Day, May 8th, 1945. "I was on board a troop ship en route to Burma in my jungle greens,” he says. “We'd set off from Glen Orchy in Scotland, after I’d said goodbye to my wife June, who was back in Richmond. I didn’t know if I'd ever see her again." But he does remember "having a couple of beers" to celebrate the end of hostilities! He eventually came home in 1949.
