Miniature Goldendoodle Expert Guide & FAQ: Choosing the Best Collar, Bed, Lead & Accessories

What collar width suits a Miniature Goldendoodle?

A 2 cm (0.8-inch) collar generally suits a Miniature Goldendoodle. Medium and Standard Goldendoodles may require a broader 2.5 cm (1-inch) collar, depending on their neck measurement and build.

What neck size is typical for a Miniature Goldendoodle?

An adult Miniature Goldendoodle’s neck commonly measures approximately 28–40 cm (11–16 inches). However, their size can vary according to their parents, so measuring is more reliable than choosing by breed alone. Individual dogs do vary depending on the parents, so we always advise you to measure around the neck where the collar naturally sits and allow enough room to place two fingers underneath. Should a Miniature Goldendoodle a harness or collar?

A properly fitted collar can be used for identification, everyday wear and walking. A harness is an alternative for a Miniature Goldendoodle that pulls or is more comfortable without pressure around the neck. Choose according to the individual dog’s walking behaviour and comfort.

What collar size fits a Miniature Goldendoodle puppy?

Miniature Goldendoodle puppies grow quickly, so choose a collar using the puppy’s current neck measurement rather than its age or predicted adult size. Check the fit regularly and move to a larger size when two fingers no longer fit comfortably beneath the collar.

Which LISH collar size is best for a Miniature Goldendoodle?

Most Miniature Goldendoodles will suit a Medium LISH collar, which is 2 cm (0.8 inches) wide and fits necks measuring 29–39 cm (11.5–15.5 inches). A smaller dog may suit the SM collar, which is 2 cm wide and fits 24–31 cm (9.5–12 inches). A larger Miniature Goldendoodle may require the Large collar, which is 2.5 cm wide and fits 36–48 cm (14–19 inches).

Which lead length is best for a Miniature Goldendoodle?

A Miniature Goldendoodle wearing an SM or Medium collar can use the Medium LISH Lead, measuring 2 cm (0.8 inches) wide and approximately 120 cm (47 inches) long. A Medium collar can also be paired with the Large Lead, if a broader and longer option is preferred. A dog wearing a Large collar should use the Large Lead.

Which bed is best for a Miniature Goldendoodle?

The Medium Harris Tweed Round Bed, measuring approximately 92 cm (36 inches) in diameter, should suit many Miniature Goldendoodles that prefer to curl up. The Medium Linen Pillow Bed, measuring approximately 80 × 60 cm (31 × 23 inches), is another suitable option for dogs that prefer to stretch out. Larger Miniature Goldendoodles should be measured in their usual sleeping position before ordering.

Which jumper is best for a Miniature Goldendoodle?

A smaller Miniature Goldendoodle may suit a Medium LISH jumper, measuring approximately 41 cm (16 inches) along the back. A larger dog may require Large, measuring approximately 47–52 cm (18.5–20.5 inches). Measure from the neck to the base of the tail before ordering.

How should you care for your Miniature Goldendoodle?

Brush and comb the coat regularly to prevent matting, particularly beneath the collar, behind the ears and under the legs. Coat texture can vary from wavy to curly, so grooming needs will differ between individual dogs. Remove collars, harnesses and clothing after wet walks and allow the coat to dry thoroughly. Arrange professional grooming as required.
